Rayan Cherki next club odds: Man City heavy favourites

The latest Rayan Cherki next club odds released by Ladbrokes have Manchester City as the heavy favourites to sign the talented playmaker.

Man City were one of the clubs interested in signing Florian Wirtz this summer, but the player has reportedly opted to join Liverpool, with that move being so far along that Ladbrokes has suspended betting on the player's next club.

It's not of a case of 'Wirtz of nobody' for Man City though, as the club have turned their attentions to Cherki of Lyon, with Pep Guardiola's side now the heavy favourites to sign him.

The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano is reporting that City have made contact with Lyon and Cherki's representatives to try and get the ball rolling on a summer transfer.

Fabrizio Romano posted: "Manchester City made contact to start initial talks for Rayan Cherki as target for #10 position. He’s top of the list with Morgan Gibbs-White after Wirtz deal off, while Cherki’s also aware of Man City interest."

Cherki has shone in a struggling Lyon side this season, with many feeling that the French attacker has all the minerals to make it as one of the best players in his position in the world.

A lot can change in football though, particularly when it comes to transfers, so Ladbrokes is offering odds on other clubs managing to get the Cherki deal over the line if the City move doesn't come to fruition.

Borussia Dortmund have been one of the clubs interested for quite some time, and if he doesn't move to the multi-time Premier League champions, the bookies think Cherki could end up in Germany.

With the same odds as Dortmund to be Cherki's next club are Manchester United. Despite completing a deal to sign Matheus Cunha already, Ruben Amorim wants to improve his options in attack, so a move for Cherki would make sense.

However, it very much seems like City have put in the most work to get a Cherki deal over the line this summer, so don't be too surprised if a 'here you go' from Romano appears on your timeline before too long.
