Punter predicts Grand National top three to make £61k
Published:
One Ladbrokes punter correctly predicted the top three of the 2025 Grand National on April 5 to turn £8 into more than £61,000.
It was an all-Willie Mullins podium after the world’s greatest steeplechase, but it wasn’t comprised of his leading contenders, making this tricast success even more outstanding.
The customer picked out Nick Rockett, I Am Maximus and Grangeclare West to finish in that order as part of a combination tricast, which means each of the trio’s six possible first-second-third finishing combinations were covered by individual betting lines.

By correctly calling that the two 33/1 outsiders would finish first and third and that 7/1 favourite I Am Maximus would come home in second, the punter took home an incredible £61,320.32.
Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said: “And you thought Willie Mullins was the biggest winner at Aintree! It might have looked like a favourable renewal for the bookies, but this year’s Grand National has seen punters land some incredible wins, and this one tops the lot. This customer obviously likes the reigning champion trainer, but we’d love to know what they saw in two of his less well-regarded chasers.”
