Euro 2024: England squad, starting XI and tournament odds

After the announcement was made official on October 16, Ladbrokes looks at the latest odds on England winning a major tournament under new boss Thomas Tuchel.

Four international games with Lee Carsley standing in as men's interim manager have now passed, and the FA have officially appointed Gareth Southgate's successor in the form of Tuchel.

Ladbrokes recently looked at the England starting XI Tuchel could favour now that he's got the job, and we also look at the latest odds for on the German leading the Three Lions to a major tournament.

England to win a major tournament under Thomas Tuchel

Tuchel has been backed to win a major trophy as England manager just minutes after he was named as Southgate’s successor, according to Ladbrokes.

The bookies make the former Chelsea boss just 7/4 to win a major trophy during his tenure, while it is 33/1 that he wins the next World Cup and Euros.

Tuchel was 2/1 to be announced as the next England manager over the weekend, but his odds crashed to 1/4 the morning of October 16, before betting was suspended.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “There is a real sense of optimism amongst England fans tonight, with punters already backing their country to win a major trophy under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel."

As an individual bet, England are right up there as one of the two favourites to win the World Cup in 2026, despite qualification for the tournament not even kicking off until next year.

Tuchel won't officially become England's next manager until 2025, so Carsley still has two more Nations League fixtures in November 2024 before he presumably returns to duty as Under 21s boss.

England to have a new manager by the 2030 World Cup

Tuchel has signed an 18-month deal to become England manager, which will span from January 2025 until after the 2026 World Cup, but there's always a chance that he and the FA negotiate a new deal after his first major tournament, especially if things are going well.

Tuchel may be given the nod for Euro 2028, and Ladbrokes has the probability at less than 15% for England to have a new manager by the time the 2030 World Cup rolls around.
