Three clubs from the Premier League, as well as two in Europe, are set to compete for the signature a £100m midfielder this summer.

A report from Caught Offside has indicated that Arsenal, Manchester City and soon-to-be Premier League champions Liverpool are the three English clubs looking to sign Florian Wirtz this summer.

Wirtz is also the subject of interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, all of whom are said to be preparing to fight it out for the midfielder this summer transfer window.

Who is Florian Wirtz?

Wirtz is another bright talents to come out of German football, with the number ten having been an integral part of the Bayer Leverkusen side who won the Bundesliga last season without losing a single game.

Leverkusen look set to miss out on the Bundesliga title this season to Bayern Munich, one of the sides interested in signing Wirtz, but the 21-year-old has still shone this season, returning 28 goals and assists across 41 games in the Bundesliga, German cup and Champions League.

Xabi Alonso, Wirtz's current manager, has described the player as a 'genius', so it isn't surprising to see many of Europe's top clubs, including three in England, so keen to sign the player.

Which clubs want to sign Florian Wirtz?

Many top clubs are interested in signing Wirtz, with Caught Offside revealing that Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City all want the player.

The same report also states that elsewhere in Europe, it's Real Madrid and the aforementioned Bayern who are interested in Wirtz.

Sources have informed CaughtOffside that Real Madrid stands out among the clubs that want to add Florian Wirtz’s talents to their roster. German giants Bayern Munich are keen on Wirtz as well. The club is preparing a serious offer to convince Leverkusen, while continuing negotiations with the player’s representatives.

The Real Madrid links are particularly interesting, especially as it seems likely that Carlo Ancelotti is going to leave the club this summer.

A report from The Athletic has revealed that Ancelotti is expected to leave Madrid this summer to take on a post as the Brazilian national team's head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which they're one of the favourites to win.

One of the candidates to replace Ancelotti is Alonso, so perhaps that's why Real are one of the front-runners to sign Wirtz, with the ex-Liverpool midfielder seen to reunite with his star man and bring him to Los Blancos.

A move to Man City also makes sense considering the club are set to say goodbye to Kevin De Bruyne at the end of the current season, with a move to the MLS likely.
