Alexander Isak analysis: Which club should he move to?
Published:
Ladbrokes looks at where Alexander Isak could end up after the summer transfer window, with several clubs interested in the striker.
The football season is rapidly approaching its climax, and attention is shifting towards clubs’ summer transfer plans.
One name has been dominating the rumour mill – Alexander Isak, so Ladbrokes looks at his most likely destination next season.

Newcastle United’s Swedish forward has been in sensational form this year, scoring 20 Premier League goals in consecutive seasons. The number of elite clubs without an elite striker means that Isak is in high demand.
The Magpies are in a strong position and have supposedly set an asking price of £150m for their star striker, but even that will not put some teams off. So where is he most likely to end up? Let's find out.
Where will Alexander Isak be next season?
Arsenal
Isak has long been linked with Arsenal, in large part due to a certain other number 14. It is impossible to ignore the similarities between Isak and Thierry Henry, and many Arsenal fans have him at top of their wishlist.
Mikel Arteta's side have felt like they are just one missing piece away from winning the title, particularly up front. Even before this season's injury crisis, there were doubts whether Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus could fire the Gunners to the Premier League title.
Success in the Champions League would go a long way in convincing Isak that the Emirates is the right destination for him, and Arsenal's odds have been slashed to 5/2 to win the competition after their stunning quarter-final win over Real Madrid.
Liverpool
Liverpool are well on their way to the Premier League title, but it looks like it could be a summer of change at Anfield. Reds fans would love to see Isak turn out in their colours, especially considering his strong record against Liverpool.
Isak scored the decisive goal in Newcastle's win over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, and appears to be one of the few players in the world who Virgil van Dijk doesn't deal with comfortably. Now imagine them on the same team!
Isak is the sure thing. He would lighten the load on Mo Salah, and Isak's ability to drop deep would suit all Liverpool's wingers well. At this stage of his career Isak may want to be at a club with a proven track record of silverware, which Liverpool are definitely associated with.
Barcelona
The main question here is one of affordability, because Barcelona are still undoubtedly one of the most attractive clubs to play for in world football. However, their financial issues are well-documented and may prohibit them spending the type of fee a Premier League club could afford.
Now aged 36, Robert Lewandowski will surely slow down eventually, and when he does Isak could be the perfect fit for Barcelona. Reports in Spain have suggested the Catalans do hold a firm interest in the Swede, who would follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic if he joined Barca. Being at a club like Barcelona can also catapult a player into the Ballon D'Or race.
Isak has all the hallmarks of a Barcelona player, with fantastic technique, speed, finishing and hold-up play. He would be competing for every trophy on offer, regularly challenging for La Liga and the Champions League. If the striker does leave these shores, Spain could be the most likely destination.
Chelsea
When Newcastle were struggling with PSR last summer, Chelsea enquired about Isak's availability but were swiftly turned down. Their interest is unlikely to have gone away.
Nicolas Jackson is promising, but the Blues need more firepower and Isak represents the best in class, which Chelsea have always targeted. The fee is unlikely to be a problem, given the creativity of the accountants at Stamford Bridge.
A lot could depend on where the two clubs finish this season, as they are in direct competition for a Champions League place. If Chelsea pip Newcastle to it, their chances of signing him would improve. If they don't, Isak may view it as a sideways move with other more appealing options available.
PSG
The Parisian side are transformed under Luis Enrique, with less star power in the team but far greater energy and structure, and they are increasingly looking like a potential Champions League-winning team.
Ousmane Dembele has been a revelation as a central striker, but PSG forwards Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos appear to be out of favour, creating a void that could be filled by Isak.
There are no questions about Isak's work rate, with Luis Enrique having seen first-hand his pressing when Newcastle's blew away PSG at St. James Park' in the Champions League in 2023. He also scored at the Parc des Princes, so the French side know all too well about Isak's qualities already.
Stay at Newcastle
It's very possible that Isak is still on Tyneside next season. He has three years left on his contract and his eye-watering price tag could be beyond all but a few teams. The player has shown no desire to force a move so far.
Newcastle have also shown they are making progress, with a Champions League campaign and finally ending their long trophy drought by lifting the Carabao Cup. Eddie Howe has got the best out of him and will hope to build his team around him.
However, qualifying for the Champions League will undoubtedly be crucial if the Magpies want to satisfy Isak's ambitions. He is a world-class striker that should be playing consistently at the highest level, and challenging for the best trophies. Newcastle need to show he can achieve that at St. James Park, or there may come a point in time where he feels he has to move on.
